William A. De Joode passed away in Des Moines, Iowa on Monday, July 24, 2017. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, July 28, 2017 from 4-7:00 PM at the Runnells Christian Church with a private burial 10:00 on Saturday at Lowman Cemetery near Runnells. William was born on July 23, 1931 in Polk County, Iowa to Arthur and Orpha De Joode.\nWillie farmed all of his life...starting at the young age of 13 working for local farmers. In December of 1950 he was united in marriage to Lois Herweh. Together they raised 3 children on a farm near Runnells. Willie enjoyed riding his mules, camping, going to Rutledge, blue grass festivals, and family gatherings. Family was the most important thing in his life...and teasing his grandkids was what he did best! \nWilliam is survived by his 3 children, Sandie (Steve) Curry of Runnells, Rick De Joode of Runnells and Marcia (Duane) Miller of Bondurant; siblings, Trudy Hauserman, Phyllis Connett, Carolyn Richeson, Barb McGrean, Bev Pearson and Donnie De Joode; 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
