P Hastie Obituary (1919 - 2014)

John P. Hastie, 94, of Indianola passed away peacefully at home Feb. 27, 2014 in the presence of his Family. He was born to Herman and Lucy Hastie of the Scotch Ridge Community. He was married to Mary Ellen Sheehey. They were blessed with nine children. He retired from the Colonial Bakery as a Semi Driver. He is survived by his children, Mary Lu (Edwin) Wignall of Marshalltown, Rita Jo (Barry) Bethel of Sherman, Tx., James (Sheryl) Hastie of Creston, Becky South of Des Moines, Margaret Hastie of Des Moines, Elizabeth (Al) Martin of Beech; 18 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great- great -grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother; sisters; his wife, Mary Ellen; their sons, Phillip, John Herman, Ross and granddaughter Patricia Marie Hastie. Visitation will be from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 3, 20`14 with The Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Petersons Funeral Home in Indianola. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola. Burila will be in Churchville Cemetery. Special thanks to Niki Tucker and Cindy Owens of Mercy Hospice.
