Lorie Isley Obituary (1921 - 2013)

Vadis Lorie Isley passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines with family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle with burial to follow in the Palmyra Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, the evening prior. Vadis was born on January 24, 1921 in Ackworth, Iowa to James and Irene Furnal. Vadis married Russsell Isley on April 15, 1939 and they raised their 4 children together; Carroll, Dwight, Duane and Kathy. Vadis retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of the Community United Presbyterian Church of Hartford. Vadis is survived by her sons; Carroll(Linda)Isley of Carlisle, IA; Dwight(Sharlene)Isley of Sierra Vista, AZ; Duane(Sandy)Isley of Indianola, IA; and daughter Kathy(Bob) Pohlman of Hartford, IA; 12 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. Vadis was preceded in death by her parents; husband Russell in 2002; siblings Ardean and Erma, and daughter-in-law Carolyn Isley.
