Ernest Guy Whistler, 69, of Avon, Iowa died June 14th 2014 at the V.A. Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation and Funeral Services are being held at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle, Iowa on Friday June 20th 2014. Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. with the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Carlisle City Cemetery. Ernest was born August 28th 1944 in Denver CO to Guy and Ethyl Whistler. Ernest served 6 years in the Army, specializing in water purification while stationed in Viet Nam, during the Viet Nam War. He is survived by his wife, Diana L. Whistler of Carlisle, Iowa, 2 daughters, Bernadette of Des Moines, Ia and Lee Anne of Carlisle, Ia; a sister, Judy (Steven) of Montezuma, Ia and a brother, Dwight (Violet) of Altoona, Ia and 2 grandsons. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Robert Earl Whistler. His hobbies and interests included: fishing, camping and traveling to see the mountains and coin and currency collecting and making cut coin jewlery.
