M. Leanne Dickerson Obituary (1963 - 2018)

M. Leanne Dickerson passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in Indianola, Iowa. Leanne was born on November 10, 1963 to Robert and Jorita Madison. She graduated from Carlisle High School in 1982 and began working as a medical receptionist. With encouragement from her colleague doctors, she began to pursue a nursing degree, graduating in 1992 from First Mercy School of Nursing. She continued on to graduate from The University of Osteopathic Medicine in 1995 as a Physician's Assistant. She practiced in many areas of medicine, including family practice, and psychiatric care. Leanne enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite locations was Key West, where she pursued her love of sailing the ocean. She enjoyed sailing so much that she obtained her women's charter license, learning how to navigate and captain a sailboat. Her favorite pastime was challenging her family to board games and binge-watching "The Big Bang Theory". Leanne is survived by her son, Brandon (Stephanie) Van Vleet of Indianola; parents, Robert & Jorita Madison of Pleasanton; sister, Kari(Donnie)Miller of Carlisle; life-long friend & former husband, Bobby Dickerson of Ankeny; step son, Bobby (Kendra) Dickerson III of Edmond, OK; step son, Nate (Lisa) Dickerson of Moore, OK; grandchildren, Mason & Presley Van Vleet, Nolan, Zaden, Rafe, & Jolie Dickerson, and Andrew Dickerson; nieces, Eryn, Olyvia, and Izzy Miller and many other aunts, uncles, and extended family members. Leanne was preceded in death by her son, Nathan Wayne Van Vleet; maternal grandparents, Joseph & Rita Yochum; and paternal grandparents, Orville & Ethel Madison.
